Thanksgiving Gathering a Big Hit

It's a recipe we will want to remember:

Add generous portions of good food, laughter, hospitality, and generosity; mix well with a lot of love and a lot of faith. Open hearts and open doors -- and voila! a joy-filled time to remember. God delivers again!

To be honest, we weren't sure what to expect when we sent all those invitations out. We've never done this before, and we wanted to be sure we had, well, enough. Enough food, enough space, enough volunteers, enough transportation, enough time -- the list goes on and on.

And God didn't disappoint. We didn't just have enough - we had an abundance of everything needed. And more:

  • We had an amazing turn-out of volunteers for both the Wednesday set-up and Thanksgiving Day;
  • We received generous donations from a variety of sources, including ARAMARK Dining Services Staff and others at Princeton Seminary, to help provide food and a welcoming atmosphere;
  • Thanks to all the food, we were able to send extra food home with our guests (hey - we all know one o fthe best parts of Thanksgiving is the leftovers!) We also had plenty for deliveries to homebound neighbors;
  • Thanks to a recent coat drive, we had like-new coats to provide to some of our guests who needed them;
  • Girl Scouts Service Unit 91 of Whitetownship, Harmony and Belvidere contributed a box of beautiful handmade coloring books with crayons for kids. Each one is unique, and clearly made with special care;
  • We had the chance to meet, get to know, and share our day with some wonderful people!

Special thanks to all who helped make it happen. Be sure to check out the special slide show in our photo gallery.
