72 Girl Scouts Beautify Manse/IHN Day Center

For "Make a Difference Day" this year, 72 Girl Scouts from the Warren Hills Service Unit chose to help beautify the Family Promise/IHN Day Center, which is housed in the Oxford Second manse.

Ranging in age from 6 to 17, the girls assisted in pulling weeds, raking, bagging leaves, and spreading mulch. Some of the girls scraped and re-painted the back porch, while others planted new shrubs. In addition, the girls also donated 4 boxes of much needed supplies for the Day Center.

Many thanks to all who assisted, with special thanks to the 15 Girl Scout leaders; all the parent volunteers; Michelle Zignoli, coordinator for the day's work; and to Family Affair Florist in Washington, NJ for their donation of 2 yards of mulch, plus 8 bushes and shrubbery.

The Warren County Family Promise/Interfaith Hospitality Network is an amazing community initiative that works to help vulnerable, homeless families get back on their feet.

Oxford Second has been an active supporter since they opened in 2008, not only providing the use of the manse as a home-like center with case managers, laundry facilities and other amenities, but also actively participating as a host church for over-night stays. In fact, Oxford Second will be the host church during the Christmas holidays, from December 19th - 29th.

We are grateful to be part of this exciting ministry, and thankful for all who share in these efforts to "make a difference" in the lives of these families in need.
