Prayers re: Haiti Earthquake

posted Jan 13, 2010, 7:53 AM by Oxford Second   [ updated Jan 15, 2010, 7:18 PM ]
Miraculously, the mission team from Trenton and Lawrenceville, NJ, arrived home safe on 1/15, after making safe delivery of supplies, etc. to 300 people at their Haiti destination. We thank God for their safe arrival.

It is all the more amazing considering that the Americans who have so far made it out seem to be mostly from New Jersey, while hundreds of other Americans are still begging to be allowed on flights out. The news reports that, "Cradling babies and limping on crutches, hundreds of Americans waved their passports in the air and begged U.S. soldiers Friday to let them on flights out of Haiti's earthquake-ravaged capital."

Even as we thank God for our friends' safe arrival home, we ask for continued prayers for all those left behind, and all those whose home is Haiti. For all those suffering and struggling in ways we can't imagine. For those whose lives have been taken, and those who love them. For all those seeking to bring relief and help. For worried familes and friends. God be with them all!

Please pray for the people of Haiti following the devastating earth quake yesterday in their capital city of Port-au-Prince. Prayers too for all who are impacted by this disaster, including those trying to assist in recovery efforts.

We also ask for prayers for:
  • 15 members of the Trinity Mission Team from Hackettstown who have thankfully been found safe, and are at the airport trying to get home.
  • A Mission Team from the Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton and the Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church, who arrived in Haiti the day of the earthquake. We are very grateful to be able to share that they have been at the US Embassy in Port-au-Prince and are scheduled to travel to the Dominican Republic today. They will travel home in the next few days. Please continue to hold them, their loved ones, and their faith communities in your prayers.
