There's something about being "chosen" that can make us feel special. Whether it's for a job we want - a spot on the "team" - the winner of a competition - it can be a boost to the ego to know we're wanted. On the flip side, most of us have also experienced what it feels like to be passed up for something we really want, and NOT be chosen!
