We hear a lot about the Christian faith being "Good News," and many of the best known preachers and teachers place emphasis on what God does for us. There is even a popular movement referred to as "prosperity theology," which teaches that "believers have a right to the blessings of health and wealth." Members are taught that "they can obtain these blessings through positive confessions of faith and the 'sowing of seeds' through the faithful payments of tithes and offerings."
