In the final words of Matthew, we hear about a last meeting between the 11 disciples and Jesus. Oddly, in spite of all the disciples had seen, heard and experienced firsthand, some still held back; some still were hesitant and had their doubts. His own disciples! And yet, they went on, risking and even giving their lives. And in doing so, they changed the world, through our triune God. Now if Jesus' disciples had doubts, if they felt confused, is it any wonder that we, too, have moments of doubt and confusion? But like those first disciples, God is calling us to go out and share the Good News, too, that all might be transformed and blessed. Are we ready? |
