Who IS Your Neighbor?"

Most of us know that we are supposed to love God. We also know we are supposed to love our neighbor. But who exactly is our "neighbor?"

In Luke 10, Jesus responds to this question as he often did -- by sharing a story. A man is attacked by robbers and left for dead. Two holy men just pass him by, while a Samaritan -- from a group rejected by the Jews and considered "unclean" -- doesn't hesitate to care for the man, get him to an inn, and pay for his care out of his own pocket. Talk about going the extra mile -- and all for a total stranger.

Jesus closes the story by asking the scholar:

“What do you think? Which of the three became a neighbor to the man attacked by robbers?”

“The one who treated him kindly,” the religion scholar responded.

Jesus said, “Go and do the same.”
