When You're Treated Badly

This has been a particularly rough week for many in our church family and beyond. Some have lost loved ones; others are trying to support and comfort friends and family who are going through especially hard times. Shouldn't life be easier if you're a Christian? Shouldn't a faith in God ensure a better and easier life?

Unfortunately, life isn't easy and it isn't fair, whether you're Christian or not. No one is immune to loss, pain and suffering. We have only to look to the Bible to see that not one person has ever been spared from the messiness that is life. But  as Philip Yancey shares in his book, Disappointment with God, we mustn't confuse God with life. "The cross of Christ demolished  for all time that life is supposed to be fair." But God only wants what is good for us. And God not only gives us the strength to weather life's storms, but brings good out of all things. Even when we're treated badly.
