Taking That First Step

It was a momentous occasion. After hundreds of years living landless and then as slaves; after another 40 years out in the desert; God's people are about to enter the Promised Land. Moses has passed, and now it is Joshua who is chosen by God to bring the people forward. And once again waters must be parted - this time, the waters of a river.

A time of great hope, and as promised, the waters are parted. "Finally the whole nation was across the Jordan, and not one wet foot."

Each of us have know our own dark times as well - times of struggle and challenge. And each of us long for our own entry from desert to Promised Land. Sometimes the wait can seem endless.

But will we know it when we see it? And will we be willing and ready to take that first step forward?
