After Jesus' death, the early church continued to grow, and Peter in his faith was part of that growth. During that time, there was a disciple named Tabitha, who was well-known for "doing good and helping out." While Peter was in the area, sadly she became sick and died, and her friends prepared her body for burial. Hearing that Peter was visiting nearby, friends asked him to come over, and he went immediately to the room where Tabitha’s body was laid out. He knelt and prayed, and then he spoke directly to the body: “Tabitha, get up.” Amazingly, she opened her eyes, and came back to life. Her friends rejoiced, and her experience also caused others to believe. Did Peter know that he would be able to bring Tabitha back to life? We don't know. What we do know is that he was willing to take on the impossible, never underestimating God's power, if it was His will. |
