Marked By God's Love

The gospel of Mark begins with a powerful story of John the Baptizer out in the wild. John was:

 "preaching a baptism of life-change..."

"As he preached he said, 'The real action comes next: The star in this drama, to whom I’m a mere stagehand, will change your life. I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism—a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit—will change you from the inside out.'” (from Eugene Peterson's "The Message")

The "star" he is referring to is of course Jesus, who came himself to be baptized, and in in doing so, was marked by God's love.

We too, are marked by God's love through our Baptism. And it's meant to be more than a special event or family memory. It's an important beginning.
