Making History

It was a big day. Jesus was now an adult, and went to worship in his home town Nazareth, with people who knew him and his family. He was asked to read, and he did, sharing that God's promise of Good News to the poor, the captives, the blind, the battered and the burdened - had come true that very day, in that place. He shared that he was the one Isaiah spoke of, and that they had just heard "Scripture make history."

Shouldn't that be cause for celebration? But it wasn't. The people felt angry and betrayed by one of their own. But why?
