Losing the Old Labels

posted Jun 12, 2011, 2:54 PM by Oxford Second
In a world where no two fingerprints are the same, should it come as any surprise that we are all so "different?" And yet, we often live as if we think we should all be alike. Our differences can cause discomfort, and to ease that discomfort, it's easy to label people and dismiss them without every knowing really knowing them. Unfortunately, our differences can also lead to distrust, misunderstandings, judgment, rejection and even conflict.

But our differences are no accident, and actually can be an amazing blessing. Like the body, as Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 12, we need all our diverse "parts." And when we see each other as different but equally valuable; when we respect each other and try to understand each other; when we find ways to work as one; we can be blessed in amazing ways.
