Imagine a world where there is no hunger. Where everyone has "enough." Where everyone shares their talents and abilities, and looks out for each other. Where no one is left out or forgotten.
Sounds pretty radical doesn't it? But that is exactly the kind of community that came together in the days after Jesus' death and resurrection.
"The whole congregation of believers was united as one—one heart, one mind! They didn't even claim ownership of their own possessions. No one said, "That's mine; you can't have it." They shared everything. The apostles gave powerful witness to the resurrection of the Master Jesus, and grace was on all of them.
"And so it turned out that not a person among them was needy. Those who owned fields or houses sold them and brought the price of the sale to the apostles and made an offering of it. The apostles then distributed it according to each person's need." (Acts 4:32-35, "The Message")
Easter is past; it's easy to just return to our old habits; to dismiss what happened as a "nice story," but "not practical." But is that really true? What if we actually started putting what Jesus taught into practice?
The early disciples had even less than we do, and they continued a movement of change that is still with us. What's stopping us? The message for April 14th is now ready for download.
