Hope for the Lost

He was thought to be the worst of the worst. Not just a despised tax collector, but the chief tax collector. He had wealth and power, but it wasn't enough to fill the emptiness inside, and he wanted more than anything to just see Jesus. His name was Zacchaeus, and not only did he see Jesus, but Jesus saw him - calling him by name, and even inviting himself to stay with Zacchaeus. And unlike the rich young ruler, Zacchaeus offered the equivalent of all his wealth as a gift to the poor, plus restitution to any he cheated.

And unlike all the "good people" in the crowd who were judging and rejecting, Zacchaeus got it.

There truly is hope for the lost. But to be found, one has to recognize they're lost.
