This year's election has been a season of especially savage attack campaigns, with candidates sinking to new lows. At a time when our country is struggling in so many ways, there has never been greater need to work together, using all our talents and ideas for a common good. Instead, we we see a divisiveness that has not been so strong, some historians say, since Civil War days . Have we forgotten that "united we stand, divided we fall?" In this week's lesson, Paul writes the Corinthians to strongly remind them of the need for unity: I'll put it as urgently as I can: You must get along with each other.
You must learn to be considerate of one another, cultivating a life in
common. We are blessed in our church family to be a people committed to working together with care and respect. But we must also take these lessons out into the world, working for unity in our community and beyond. The message for November 7th is now ready for download. |
