Don't Lose Heart

For many, this has been a week of great challenges. And in a moment, our world can be turned upside down.

The apostle Paul knew adversity well. From shipwrecks to prison cells, he lived a life of constant difficulty, yet never lost site of the bigger truth, and a bigger purpose. As he wrote to the Corinthians,

"Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever." (From 2 Corinthians 4, Eugene Peterson's "The Message")

God is making a new life in us as well, and though we may endure circumstances we would never choose, God is by our side, preparing us for something bigger and greater.
