How is one to be a true disciple in these challenging, changing times? Is it even possible?

Though very different, times were far from easy during the early years of the church, when Christians were persecuted and even gave up their lives for their faith. And yet, there was a passion and a joy that defied circumstances, as reflected in the apostle Paul's letters to follower Timothy. In his second letter,

"God doesn’t want us to be shy with his gifts, but bold and loving and sensible." (2 Timothy 1:7)
